Brian and Jessica
Just a young couple with a toddler, exploring the world and living life happily together!

This past weekend went much too quickly... like all weekends do. But this one went particularly quickly because it wasn't spent at home. Friday night, Brian and I carpooled with our favorite couple (Brian's cousin Randy and his super awesome wife, Sabra) to Downey, Idaho for his family's big family reunion. It was for the Baldwin side of the family which is quite large, and subsequently there was over 100 people all camping out and hanging out for the weekend. For anyone who's never been to Downata Hot Springs, it is literally out in the middle of nowhere, possibly more remote than West Virginia. To give you a better visual, it's only 30 minutes away from where Napoleon Dynamite was filmed. Luckily, Downey is much more lush and green than Preston. Brian's parents rented a cute little yurt (a circular tent-like building with windows and a sunroof) for us all to sleep in and really rough it camping out. Yes, that was sarcasm, as we were camping quite cushiony... if that's a word.. Anyway. Our time was spent playing volleyball, swimming in the springs and going down their 4 super sweet waterslides, and riding Razors around the property. At one point, Brian was driving the Razor and we had ventured out about 5 or 6 miles from the campground when the engine decided to overheat. We had to push it to turn it around and back to the top of the hill to coast a mile downhill and be able to turn the engine back on to make it all the way back to the campground. What's true trailblazing if you aren't worried about getting stranded in the rain in the middle of the rolling fields of Idaho? Anyway, it was a successful weekend which ended Saturday night with Chinese take out and movies on the couch-- a real rough end to camping.

  1. Looks like fun! Glad you had a good time "camping." :) We should go up Provo canyon together sometime and make tin foil dinners and smores. Maddie loves playing in the stream and eating marshmellows when I'm not looking.
